Having a son with Autism is hard for any parent, including this mother from Wisconsin. She has a 4 1/2 year old boy who is having trouble staying in a booster seat without a 5-point harness. He needs to be put back into one, but is too big for it. He has gained weight due to the steroids given to him to help his breathing as well as other medication given to him. As a smart kid, he has learned to unbuckle his seat belt while his mother is driving, and also has gotten around seat covers and still unbuckles his seat.

The parents of an autistic child always need to keep a close eye on them. Letting them out of your sight, even a couple minutes, may result in them wandering off. This is what happened to this Texas mother, who has a 6 year old autistic son who also suffers from ADHD. The family recently moved into a new neighborhood and the Texas boy accidentally wandered off. The mother searched in a panic for her lost child with the help of other neighbors. Jasmine, a 3 year old little girl, has been through a lot in her life. She barely survived meningitis, had three brain surgeries, and was only given a 10% chance of survival. Fortunately, Jasmine survived but as a result of the disease she was almost completely deaf. She was fitted with a hearing device that restored her hearing loss. She actually started to speak because of the device. Unfortunately, while playing outside one day, she lost the processor for the implant. This is a very expensive device which cost almost $9,000 and her insurance company refused to purchase another device.

Misti is a mother of a son with Autism who, like most young boys, enjoys jumping and climbing on things. As a recommendation from her son's therapist to help channel his sensory needs, Misti was in the market for a trampoline with a bar for him to hold onto. Misti turned to Wish Upon A Hero in search for someone willing to make a generous donation towards her wish, whether it be a monetary donation or a slightly used trampoline. Within two weeks, Wish Upon A Hero Foundation granted their wish and Misti and her son received a brand new trampoline.
