The Wish Upon A Hero Foundation has assisted in granting over 100,000 wishes. This is achieved though financial donations, in-kind gifts, matching funds, public relations, awareness campaigns and social media exposure. The Wishes & Heroes sections showcases some of the most incredible wishes that we have had the opportunity to grant.

A family was in need of a way to fly their 15-year-old son Nathan to New York for his upcoming spine surgery. Nathan has a rare disorder of connective tissues that are causing his spine to crumble, called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. He needs to go see his specialist in New York. Nathan already has had 8 brain and spine surgeries in the last 2 and a half years and this will be number 9. With living off an unemployment check each week for a family of four since the father was laid off back in December it is hard for this family to get money for a plane ticket to New York.

Amber, a mother of an 8-year-old daughter and a 1 1/2 year old son is searching for some extra help. While her daughter was starting the 3rd grade they decided to buy some needed school clothes and shoes, and after paying bills there is no money until the next paycheck. After the summer weather stopped, the family noticed that the winter clothes and shoes for their son Nicky don't fit. The only shoes that he can fit in are Crocs (sandals) and no warm clothes.

While her daughter was in labor, this Oregon soon to be grandmother was in desperate need of getting to the hospital. With the father in prison, it was up to the mother to be by her daughter's side. After leaving for the hospital in the ambulance, the mother had to find a way of getting transportation to the hospital. She decided to turn to Wish Upon A Hero to find a hero, and that is exactly what she found. This woman was able to get enough money from a wish member to get a cab to the hospital to be with her daughter in labor.

A girl was born on July 1st, 2010 to a loving family in Ohio. When she was born she was diagnosed with Trisomy 18. This causes her to be on oxygen and use a feeding tube. The family has been struggling to make ends meet with a lot of the money going to her doctor bills, specialists, and her home care equipment. With Christmas coming up soon this mother was worried that she wouldn't be able to get her kids anything for Christmas.

The day after the New Year in 2011, this poor family admitted their 2 month old son into ICU at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital for RSV and Bronchiolitis. He was on a ventilator, a feeding tube, an IV in each arm; one in his wrist, and one in his groin. The doctors paralyzed him and on a morphine drip, due to his little body being so tired that his lungs can't work on their own. A couple days later the IV drip and feeding tube started to cause his body to retain the injected fluid and not release it.

Meet Emily, a young girl from Arizona who was diagnosed and has been fighting the battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was accepted into two stem cell transplant studies in Washington and Illinois. Emily is working with the National Transplant Assistance Fund and is trying to raise money for traveling expenses and unpaid medical expenses. This assistance fund has not helped her raise as much as she would like. After contacting Angel Flight and other medical flight organizations to try and help her, but the distances to both the studies are out of their mileage limits.

Samantha, a 26 year old mother of two girls, was in dire need of financial support to save her life. Samantha was born with a degenerative lung condition that has progressively worsen through the years. At age 26 she was only using 19% of her breathing capacity and without a lung replacement, she would slowly being to suffocate.

Imagine singing a contract to a house and within hours have everything gone; this is what happened to this Delaware family. This family of 5 was still moving everything into their new home, with mom bathing their 2 year old son when the water tank exploded in the bathroom. The home inspector failed to notice the gas leak from when the repairman fixed the hot water heater hours before the family moved in. After the explosion, the 2-year-old ended up in the backyard with a broken leg.

A local softball team in Kansas was in need of assistance for their first tournament as a team. This team is consisted of 12 girls around 8 years of age. The Kansas mother wrote to Wish Upon A Hero for some assistance in new catcher's equipment for the team's first tournament. A local hero, Stephen Ortiz made a $100 donation through Wish Upon A Hero to this softball team so that they can buy the equipment needed to start their first tournament as a team.

The president and founder of an non-profit organization called Sanandome Foundation, Inc. is working on an HIV/AIDS education and prevention program for all. This company in Massachusetts is trying to organize a luncheon for Easter Sunday this year for those people with this condition as well as for local homeless citizens. This wish was posted to try and help the funding for the food that is going to be offered to these in need and to create more awareness of their company and what they offer.
